My first Mother's Day

The nursery has been painted!  It actually turned out better than I envisioned (see previous post for a before picture). It was a two day project in order to let everything dry correctly, but totally worth it.  And the crib has been ordered but will take forever a few months to come in.  It's going to be white which will look stellar with the paint job.

It sounds so lame, but I can't believe how big Callie has gotten since we brought her home.  I mean look at this picture!  I actually made the noise girls make when they see adorable little puppies.

Love her SOO much.
In a lot of ways she is still an adorable little puppy.  She still gets sooo excited to see us in the morning.  Two weekends ago Brian was sleeping in but Callie could only tolerate it for so long.  When she decided it had been long enough she sprinted upstairs into our bedroom and jumped up on the edge of Brian's side of the bed.  It was almost as if I could hear her saying, "Get up, Dad! It's time to play!"  Lately Brian has been getting up a little bit before me so he lets her out in the morning.  Often before she even goes outside she runs over to my side of the bed to say hi and nuzzle my hand, only to greet me with a lot of excitement and expectations of a belly rub when I come downstairs a few minutes later. She also loves to play hide and seek.  When one of us is playing fetch with her we will hide as she goes after the ball. She returns a few seconds later, slightly confused, when we're not there waiting for her and then goes on the hunt to find us.  She is PUMPED when she finally does.  Yesterday I was doing this with her and she came up behind me as I was hiding behind the couch and jumped on my back just like a little kid.  And I don't think I can ever get over watching her wave goodbye to Brian before he goes to work.  So. Freaking. Cute.

Dead asleep.  How does she do that?
Remember how I said she was losing teeth like crazy?  This is an empty peanut butter jar that I gave her to play with and that is her tooth stuck in the peanut butter at the very bottom where she can't reach.  Shocking and a little gross.

Our little gummy bear is still growing away.  I've even noticed his hiccups lately, too.  I think I've actually been feeling it for awhile now, but didn't realize that's what it was.  Apparently they can last for just a short amount of time and I always thought it would be longer.  It's very rhythmic though, so it's hard to miss.  A few posts ago I mentioned that I felt him flip over.  Of course this has continued and the sensation is stronger, but I can't believe that more pregnant women don't react or share when it happens.  It's such a crazy feeling that it makes you wish everyone around you could feel it, too.  Bizarre.

I went to a few garage sales last week and totally scored on some really nice clothes for baby S.  Side note: I am not a garage sale person. This is the first time I've ever gone by myself and I couldn't tell you the last time I'd been to one.  Also, garage sale regulars are crazy.  You know what else is crazy?  This "honeymoon" trimester I kept hearing about.  I don't know what your honeymoon was like, but mine was definitely more enjoyable than this.  I keep going through phases of nausea and headaches and I'm sick of it (literally).  It continued to hamper freeze my workouts, but I'm doing my best to just start fighting through it.  I've actually had some great workouts lately and the more often I workout the better I seem to feel.  Someone please remind me of that during my next pregnancy.

24 weeks.  Making faces at Brian while he tells me to "work it".  Next time I'm going to flash my bump at him.

I've been looking forward to posting this for a couple weeks and now that Mother's Day has passed I finally can!  Here is the present I made for our moms (thank you, pinterest!), who knew I could be crafty?

Step 1: Cut paper to fit frame.  Place sticky/vinyl lettering on an old picture or decorative paper (I used scrapbook paper).
Step 2: Spray paint the whole thing.  Let dry and then carefully peel off the letters.
Step 3: This is what you are left with.  Place in frame and voilà!

This was technically my first mother's day.  I didn't even realize it until a few days before.  Brian surprised me with a very cute hand-made card and a Snoogle!  It shipped late so I can't tell you how awesome it is yet, but I am PUMPED (Update: this came as I was writing this post! Yesss!).  Since it became uncomfortable for me to sleep on my stomach I've been using a fleece covered body pillow that we already had.  It works great unless I'm warm which hasn't been a huge problem so far but I live in the land of summer humidity levels so high you feel like a fish when you go outside.  My husband is pretty rad.

As for me, I'm really struggling with God's plan for me right now.  Like, really struggling.  Last week I was supposed to be contacted to set up an interview for a job.  By Friday afternoon I hadn't heard anything so I just shot them a short email checking in to make sure I hadn't missed something.  I have yet to hear back.  The most frustrating thing is that the longer this goes on, the more pointless it's going to be for me to start a new job.  I'm sure God knows what he's doing, but if he could just let me in a little bit on what that is I would REALLLYYY appreciate it.  I'm starting to go a little stir crazy over here and I don't know how much more I can take.

Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.  In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.  -Proverbs 16:3,9

Love,
-K
