Are we there yet?

Things are so much more mellow when you don't feel good.  A fact that I don't think the dog appreciates.  I swear sometimes she looks at me and all she's thinking is, "You are soo boring."  My nausea was terrible at the end of last week and into the beginning of this week.  I felt like a million bucks on Wednesday when it finally let up which is saying a lot for a pregnant lady nearing the end of her seventh month.  I'm just praying that it stays this way.  This may have also caused Brian some anguish as he listened to me complain about how much I don't want to be pregnant anymore and for the fact that there really isn't a way for him to help.  I asked if him if he would carry the baby for me the rest of the term and he said he would if he could.  Just him saying that makes it a teensy tiny bit easier.

29 weeks.  Are we there yet?

Since I feel so bad for Callie and because she's becoming a little too adventurous for my own good, we finally got her a pass to the dog park conveniently located less than a mile away.  I took her for the first time yesterday.  It's HUGE.  There's a big fenced area for the little dogs, a giant area for the bigger dogs and another fenced area inside that which has a swimming pond.  We were the only ones there when we first arrived and she had NO interest in playing with me whatsoever.  She just wanted to run around and sniff everything.  Shortly after we got there a girl came in with her two dogs and we walked them all over to the swimming pond.  This was Callie's first experience with a body of water.  I was hoping that having two other dogs around that loved to swim would give her the courage try it.  And it did. Once.  For a few minutes she was pretty hesitant about going in and then suddenly she took a running leap into it.  She freaked a little and came right back to shore and didn't want to go in after that.  I pulled her in a few times to show her that it was okay but she still didn't like it.  She had a great time running around with the other dogs and getting totally filthy.  Thankfully I had the sense to bring a towel (I had forgotten about the swim pond until we got there).

A happy, soaked, and muddy little girl after her first time at the dog park.

This weekend we are headed to Illinois for Brian's cousin's baby shower and Brian's parents have a nice above ground pool that Callie will be swimming in whether she likes it or not. =)  I think she'll enjoy it a lot more when we can be in there with her.  Don't worry, pictures will be taken and shared as long as I don't drop my phone in the water like the girl at the dog park yesterday.  Ouch.

It turns out I didn't get the DMACC job.  Apparently they decided to go with someone who had a K-12 background.  How that pertains to college students (which I have experience advising) is beyond me.  However, they are anticipating a probable opening in January and asked if they could contact me if that was the case.  I guess it's all for the best.  I mean, I would have only worked there for about a month and half before having the baby and wouldn't be back again until probably November.  And now I don't have to spend money on trying to find business casual maternity clothes - I'm actually pretty pumped about that fact.  I guess it's just down to me selling stuff until the baby comes.  I have quite a few things listed online right now between eBay, half.com, craigslist, and a few local swapper groups on Facebook.  I get impatient waiting for things to sell, but it's so exciting when something does! Especially when you didn't think it would sell in the first place AND you got a decent price for it.

Our trip to IL this weekend marks our first of three in the next four weeks.  Lots of driving but we might as well do it while we still can, right?  Plus two of those weekends are baby showers for me.  I can't wait!

Love,
-K

Callie apparently likes Frozen Planet.  I've never seen her pay so much attention to the TV before.  I always get reminded of 101 Dalmatians whenever a dog watches TV.

Success! Our first of three main heads of broccoli ready to be cut.  This thing is a beast!
