Dear Gummy Bear,
We have a mere six days before that nickname starts to become obsolete. It gives me flutters of excited nervousness to think that we're soon to find out if you're a boy or a girl. You see, when we got to see you for the first time you didn't even look like a baby yet, just a little gummy bear wiggling around inside me. You have been this sort of foreign little thing that has been making me feel sick and transforming my body into something I don't recognize - both inside and out. This time you're going to look so much more like the little one God created for us. The miracle that you are is about to become very real in our own minds. I have to admit that I have not enjoyed being pregnant so far, but I'm very much looking forward to the coming weeks. These special weeks when your dad and I both can feel your movements and talk to you and pick out a name for you. It's all very scary and exciting - my favorite kind of adventure.
Several people are guessing that you're going to be a girl. I have also been leaning towards this for awhile now, but I still go back and forth. I know it's cliche to say, but what I really want is for you to be healthy. No one really shares the stories of uncomplicated births and healthy babies, instead I often hear the sad and upsetting ones. The kind that make me pray each day that you will be safe, healthy, happy, and free of disease or problems - as a fetus, a baby, and as you grow up. There is only so much that I can do for you, the rest is in God's hands, which is a great thing because He can do a much better job than we ever could.
All my love,
-Mama
P.S. I have a favor to ask. Now, this may seem a little silly because there's still plenty of time for it, but could you just give me a few kicks that I can feel? I felt you once a couple weeks ago, but I haven't since and it makes me worry about you just a little bit. I trust that you're okay, but a little reassurance would be nice. =)
Loev this letter! I can't wait until I can do that for my baby...whenever God decides to bless us with one! ;-)
