As a mother I struggle sometimes, some days, in the things that are required of me. To be that person scooping goldfish crackers off the Target floor because I brought some in hopes that my son would sit still long enough to let me get a few quick groceries and instead he dumped them all over the place. To be that person who makes sure her kid is well dressed and clean before we head out the door and barely take 5 minutes to change and pull my mess of hair out of the way because if it took any longer I would have to sit my son in front of a screen to keep him occupied and in the same place and I'm already feeling guilty about his screen time. To be that person that is constantly wishing nap time would last just a little bit longer, or that I could sleep in just this once, or that my husband would come home a little bit earlier. To be that person that watches everything we spend, coupons and watches for good sales, and doesn't get to splurge on things for myself or for the house or really even for our kid because we live on one income so that I am able to stay home with our son and eventually our daughter. To be the person that is constantly reminded that this incredible blessing will constantly remind me what it is to be truly selfless, to put other's needs before my own, and to sacrifice so much so that I can fill this role.
In these moments when my pregnancy hormones are spiking and I am struggling with the person that I am called to be, God gently whispers into my heart: let Me be enough. Let Me walk alongside you in these times when it feels like you're sacrificing all that you are because I know every depth and cry of your heart and I truly know what it means to sacrifice. Take heart and have confidence that you do not walk alone in the path that I have created especially for you.
Love,
